Whale Pass, Alaska offers some of the best fishing for silver salmon (coho) and halibut in the Southeast. The summer run of Snow Pass coho to Neck Lake is incredible, making the Whale Pass area one of the top fisheries on Prince of Wales Island for anglers prefering a self guided experience.

Fishing the Neck Lake outlet silver salmon run is an experience every angler should have. The run is 50,000 fish strong and begins as early as mid-June! Our new cabins are located on the best hole of the outlet, and offer prime opportunity for fly and spin fisherman alike.

We fish silvers in both the stream and bay. Fishing the stream involves wading and casting in pools often filled with hundreds of fish. In the bay, we stalk pods of jumping and porpoising silvers from our 20’ Lund. Fish in the bay are often more aggresive, and limits are easy to come by.

The fishing at Whale Pass
far exceeded my expectations. Silver salmon were available all day long at the Neck Lake outlet, and the halibut fishing was superb. You can’t find better hosts than the Cook’s. They are perhaps the most hospitable family I have ever met, and after just one stay, I consider them friends.”- Arie Ringnalda, Outdoor Writer
